After buying one as a gift, I couldn’t resist and added one for myself. This is such a lovely pen, and perfect for any fan of Harry Potter!

Really like the pen

Carousels are light, and I know that's a dealbreaker for some people. I've come around to it. For long writing sessions — journalling, note-taking, working through a stack of correspondence — the lack of heft means no hand fatigue, and the balance is fine unposted. If you prefer a substantial brass pen in the hand this isn't that, and the resin body is honest about what it is at this price. But as a pen you can throw in a bag and use all day, it earns its place.

Gryffindor Scarlet is a deep, warm red — closer to a rich blood red than a bright pillar-box — with gold shimmer that comes through properly in a fountain pen rather than being lost the way it is in a wick-fed pen. The shimmer catches on the downstrokes and where the ink pools, without turning the writing into glitter. The 10ml bottle is a good travel size, and it's enough to fill the converter several times over.

The converter system is straightforward: unscrew the barrel, submerge the nib and feed, twist to fill. Because this is a shimmer ink, do give it a proper flush when you change colours and store the pen nib-up — standard practice for anything with particles in it, and the pen has been trouble-free with that minimal care.

Approachable enough for someone's first fountain pen, but with enough character — the gold crest nib especially — that it doesn't feel like a starter compromise. If you're a Gryffindor and you write by hand, this is an easy recommendation.

Great little starter kit and love the sample size of ink, perfect travel size

I don’t normally reach for a carousel pen because of how light they are, but carrying two Gryffindor ink loaded Gryffindor Pens has made my day easier. I never thought I would be the person who goes through an entire converter of ink in any one color over the course of a day, but my days are writing intensive and now I’m making it through the work day without reloading this ink and having a fun way to show a little bit of house pride.

I absolutely LOVE the story around Harry Potter and have read and heard it multiple times. The magic, the fantasy, the hope, the friendship and how important love is in the world. ❤ Absolutely phantastic! I would not call myself a fan, but when I saw what Ferris Wheel Press designed around this world I did get pretty excited. And now I'm holding my own little piece of Hogwarts in hand. ☺ The pen is very cute, I love the engraving of Hogwarts and Gryffindor on the cap and the outline of the crest on the nib, which by the way is the color gold - all my other Carousel Pens have silver nibs. The ink color is, of course, matchy matchy. A Scarlet Red with Gold Shimmer which writes smoothly with a very nice ink flow, showing the shimmer perfectly. The packaging is - as always - amazing!!! I've loved this box with the Dabbler pens and I adore it even more with the Harry Potter design. When you open it to see what's inside it's like opening the door to a magical place. Ferris Wheel Press definitely knows how to enchant their customer. This whole set is a perfect gift. No matter if it's for yourself or someone else.
