Warner Bros. | Harry Potter | Property of Hogwarts™ 38ml Ink | Limited Edition | The Sorcerer's Stone

Beautiful red ink, true to the color of the Sorcerer's Stone in the first Harry Potter movie. I love how it is such a joyful red to write with. The Hogwarts motto, "Don't tickle the sleeping dragon," is all around the cap in Latin, with a detailed depiction of the Sorcerer's Stone on top. The ink looks like a magical potion in the bottle. Definitely recommend it for Harry Potter lovers!

A radiant orange-red — warmer and brighter than the Gryffindor scarlet, closer to a glowing ember than a blood red. The rose gold shimmer is the clever part: rather than the usual gold, it's a pinkish-copper sparkle that sits beautifully against the orange base instead of fighting it. The whole effect really does read as something lit from within, which is presumably the point given the name. It's a genuinely cheerful ink in a collection that's mostly mysterious and gothic, and it lifts the whole set.

It shows best in a broader or wetter nib, where the shimmer has room to settle and the colour deepens at the ends of strokes. In a fine nib you still get plenty of the base colour but the sparkle is more restrained. Good on cream paper especially — the warmth of the paper and the warmth of the ink work together.

This is the thing that surprised me most: it's remarkably well behaved for a heavily shimmered ink. It flows consistently, starts cleanly, and hasn't clogged a feed. The usual shimmer care still applies — shake before filling, store nib-up, flush it out when you're finished with it — but nothing about it feels demanding.

Beautiful, unexpectedly bright, well-mannered in the pen, and a lovely thing to own. Glad I didn't wait.

Bright, shimmering red

Bright, beautiful and smooth. I am always surprised when these shimmering inks don’t clog my pens and keep flowing.
